Christmas in July on the brain

I think it must be all of the Christmas in July blog challenges and tutorials I've been reading this month, but I have got Christmas card making on the brain!  I wasn't so fond of my first attempt, but I did like my second.  For this card, I used an already folded red card, some ribbon I got from a friend as a part of a card kit, and some pieces of scrap I had from making the previous Christmas card.

Last night, I worked on a Thanksgiving card.  I took a green card made from cardstock, some themed paper and ribbon I got from a friend, some buttons I got from the the dollar aisle at Michaels. I braided three different colors of ribbon together and raised the buttons to try to give the card a little more dimension.

** Edit: I am sending this card out today (October 8th), along with two others for Caring Hearts Card Drive that Ling's Design Studio is sponsoring. It's a good cause, giving cheer to elderly residents in Nursing Homes during the Holiday Season. See her website at the link above for more information!

Pink Gem Designs Blog Candy

Pink Gem Designs is having a Blog Candy Giveaway. See blog for details!

Sometimes you just have to craft....

And that is what I did. I pulled together a card to send to a friend who has been going through a rough time and then last night I made a Christmas card (I think that all of the Christmas in July cards I"ve seen got the wheels turning).  I honestly don't know where any of the printed papers came from, they were a gift.

I am not thrilled with this Christmas card, but it was a first try, and I am now determined to conquer the Christmas cards. :)

New Creations and a Gift

This weekend a very dear friend was very sweet and gave me some great scrapping/card making supplies.  I can't wait to make something with them!

I also have finally had time to get the rest of the pictures I took of some cards I made last week edited.

New Creations

This week we had some computer issues, so as my hubby fixed them on Thursday evening, I took the opportunity to do some crafting.  I had just bought a few sheets of scrapbook paper that were on sale for 5 for a $1 at Michaels that afternoon and knew just what I wanted to do with them. I created mini card sets in pink and blue. I haven't really decided what I am going to do with them yet, probably give them away as a gift.

For the cards I used colored card stock for the card holders and for the inside of the mini cards. For the mini card envelopes I used plain white cardstock and embellished the envelopes with some leftover scraps from the paper I used for the cards, from Recollections and added little buttons to the outside of the mini cards (also from the Dollar aisle at Michaels). For the outside of the card holders I used some paper flowers that I got out of the dollar aisle at Michaels (I love the Dollar aisle ;) ) and some ribbon that I had.

Baby Showers Galore

I have never been to so many baby showers in such a short period IN MY LIFE.  Ladies, I warn you .... keep the kool aid to your self!  This is at least the 5th baby shower I've been to in the last two months and they are all having BOYS... (Whoever has a little girl is going to have one popular daughter!) Anyhoo, we have a shower after church on Sunday, so I whipped up a card this morning. Now all I have to do is go get a gift ;)

For the card I used plain white card stock for the base and then layered a piece of light blue cardstock on top. I used some polka dot ribbon I got a Michaels, and the "Its a BOY" and footprint pictures I got from scrapNfonts.com for free! Check the website out, It's kinda cool. They just download as a font in Microsoft Word. (I printed out an entire list (typing out from A to Z on the keyboard) of the graphics so I knew what key corresponded with which graphic.

I really like the graphics. They are so cute!

Done organizing... for now

Well, with about 15 dollars and some scrounging around the apartment, I finally managed to bring some order to my crafting supplies. I still have a lot of stuff stuffed in a expandable filer, but for now it works. I usually craft in the loft while the hubby is working on something on the PC or while we are watching TV, so it is nice to be able to section things out a little bit so I know where all the different tools and thing I use are at.

Getting Organized

Today is the day I attempt to get my crafting supplies organized. Up until now I've had everything in little boxes in a giant plastic bin. Every time I want to find one little embellishment I've had to sift for the entire bin to find something I KNOW I have in there somewhere!!!!! But I spent about 10 dollars this weekend to get some mini plastic drawers to help start organizing. Right now I am trying to figure what from around the house I can use so that I don't spend anymore than I absolutely need to.  Well, off I am to go dig in.... Wish me luck!
