4th of July plans and a new card...

Have I mentioned that the past couple of months have been busy?  (The best kind of busy... time spent with family and friends ;) )  Well, last weekend we had my family (mom, dad, and sister) stay with us (YAY!). We had a really nice time. I gave Cass her birthday/graduation present and she LOVED it! It was a scrapbook of her time at Bible School. I was so happy with how it turned out because she didn't even know half of the pictures that I got from a friend of hers had ever been taken and now she has something that she can look back on for years. (I will post pictures later but I need my hubby to fix the glare on them - silly me, I didn't remember to take pictures of the finished product until they were about out the door on Monday and I had to take them in a hurry!) We also went to Mount Vernon, which we hadn't yet had a chance to go see and I've wanted to see it for a while, so that was fun. Mount Vernon is beautiful and it has an absolutely awesome view of the river.

This coming up weekend, actually TOMORROW, we have some friends coming to stay with us for the 4th of July weekend. The plan is to see a parade and some fireworks. So we are looking forward to a good time of fellowship and fun.

Last night we took a little bit of a lazy night to just relax, and while we were watching TV (everything we watch is pretty much on the Discovery Channel or the Food Network) I created a new card. Actually, the inspiration from the card came from a thank you card that we got. I really liked the patterns on the card and decided to "re-purpose" the front of the card to make another card. I did the card in different shades of green and blue card stock and ribbon scraps that I had laying around. I was actually quite pleased with the results.

( I decided to leave the front blank instead of adding a sentiment for now, because I couldn't decide what I wanted to use the card for...This way I have a card that I can use for anything.)

Well, I am now off to go brew some coffee up because I have not yet had any this morning and my head is starting to remind me that I need some!

Birthdays, Graduations, and Father's Day... oh my!

Holy Cow..... May and June have been absolutely crazy with birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, father's day.... Busy, Busy, Busy!!! I did however manage to get all the cards out... (except for my sister, but that is because I am working on her birthday present and I am going to give her card/present to her when she  and my parents come visit this weekend)... I had already finished my dad's and father-in-law's father's day cards, but I had to throw together a card for our Pastor, as I had forgot until the last second that I had not finished one! So, below is a picture of that card, two birthday cards, and a graduation card!

Anniversary Card and Father's Day

This month has been so busy with baby showers, birthdays, and anniversaries. I just finished two more cards, an anniversary card for my parents and a father's day card for my father-in-law. I am still working on my dad's.

Anniversary Card
(For I took a strip of paper and put lace over it, and then I took a pattern I made out of a pop-out for a paper set I had and the made the "Happy Anniversary" pop out a little from the card)

Father's Day card
(I cannot, for the life of me, remember where I got the lighthouse graphic I used for this card)

Memorial Day Weekend

This weekend we celebrated Memorial Day and our Anniversary by taking the long weekend and staying in a cabin a couple of hours away. There were Caverns near where we were staying and so we took the 1 hour long walking tour. They were pretty awesome. God's creations truly are marvelous.  We took ALOT of pictures of the caverns, but my husband it "fixing" them in Photoshop, so I will wait until those are done to post some.  For now, I wanted to share the card I made yesterday when we got home.
