New Tools

Okay, so I finally gave in and bought myself a paper trimmer. I have been VERY frustrated with my lack of ability to cut a straight line even with a RULER!!!!! (Seriously, I cannot cut straight lines at all... Never have been able to, don't think I ever will!) The only reason I actually gave in though is because Fiskars came out with a new and cheap paper trimmer (only 14.99!)... I was still unwilling to pay that much, but Michaels was having a 40% off sale of all their tools and so I went ahead and paid the $8.99. I wish I had waited on the scissors I had bought 2 days before hand because I would have been able to get them for even less than I had paid, but oh well... I needed them so I am glad I bought them. I had been using the scissors that I used to use to cut the hubby's hair with, so they were getting pretty dull... Anyhoo, I am pleased with my purchases and I also splurged on two American Craft Sparkle pens (gold and silver) for a birthday gift I am working on for my MIL (The pens were 1.99 for the 2 so I didn't feel so bad ;-) Even though I needed to buy some supplies, doing a craft project for her b-day is still going to be cheaper than buying something and I think she will like something I made better anyway!)

With no further ado, some pictures of my purchases. :)

  1. I honestly think that you needn't feel badly buying things that will help you in the long run...especially when you found a great sale!

I remember getting a rotary cutter and mat for sewing. They are super expensive...but I think I had a 40% or 50% off coupon. I cannot imagine life without it now. I have cut hundreds of bags with that thing...and ended up needing another one after a couple of years. It was a worth while investment...definitely worth every penny.

Hopefully you'll enjoy those straight lines! =)

  2. Yay for you! You made some good purchases, and at a discount to boot! Don't feel bad about investing in good supplies. I've learned that it's better to buy good quality, because you get a better result. And it ends up being cheaper in the long run because you don't need to replace them nearly as often, if ever.

Can't wait to see your new projects!

  3. Thanks :) I can't wait to make something with them. Work has been insane last week and this week. I haven't been out of work until after 5 every day so I haven't had a chance to start crafting yet. I really need to as my MIL's birthday is fast approaching! I am glad that I bought the supplies. I opened up the paper trimmer last night and put a piece of paper in it just to see how well it worked and it actually cut a straight line! (Imagine that ;) )

Hope you both are having great weeks :)
